Google
is one of the most popular search engines on the Internet.
It is ranked as the fifth most visited web site on the Internet
and is estimated to have indexed over 3 billion web pages.
Unlike
most other search engines, Google does not outsource its sponsored
results to a 3rd party source. However, there are still two
'back doors' to getting your site prominently listed on Google.
The first one is usually cost prohibitive for small businesses,
but the second is within the reach of just about anyone.
Here are
the specifics...
Google
includes up to ten 'Sponsored Links' on the results page for
each search. Two of these links are included at the top of
the page (directly over the search engine results). Google
refers to these two links as 'Premium Sponsorships' and reserves
them for advertisers with a monthly budget starting at about
$5000/month.
However,
the remaining eight links which appear on the side of the
results page are available via Google's Adwords pay-per-click
program. Although the location of these links is not as desirable
as a 'top of page' listing, Google Adwords links can still
drive a substantial amount of traffic to your web site.
Here is
an example of what the search results at Google
look like:

As you
can see, the two 'Premium Sponsorships' from Google are prominently
featured on top of Google's results page. You can also see
that eight additional 'Adwords Sponsored Links' are displayed
on the right side of the results page. The good news is that
(depending on the keyword), listings with Google's Adwords
program are available for as little as five cents per click.
Unlike banner ads, pay per click listings such as Adwords
only charge you when a genuine visitor reads and clicks through
to your web site. Now
that you know the basics, you may want to do a search on Google
for the keywords you are interested in. Just use the following
custom link(s) to search Google for 'orlando real estate':

Hint:
If you see no sponsors links listed to the right of the results
page, this probably means that no one has bid on this keyword
yet. If this is the case, you may be able to capture the first
position for as little as 5 cents per visitor!
If you see many
sponsored links listed, don't worry, you can still appear
above them, by bidding over the existing sponsors by as little
as a penny.
SPECIFIC
TIPS FOR GETTING LISTED ON GOOGLE ADWORDS
- Budget tip: If
you are trying to reduce your costs, tailor the text of your
ad to specifically target the type of visitors you are looking
for. Keep in mind, you are not paying to have your ad displayed.
You are only charged when a visitor clicks through.
Example: If
you are a car dealer specializing in sports cars only, mention
this in your ad. This will eliminate people looking for minivans
and compact cars from clicking on your ad and will save you
money. GOOGLE
